November remembers

I now know Fall is in full-swing--not because the leaves are falling or the air is crisp (SoCal is fairly seasonless)--I know this because weekends at our house become shrines to the football gods. Don't ask me about the specifics of this religion. All I know is that watching 7 football games on a Saturday and a few on a Sunday is not enough. To be a good follower, you also have to watch show after show on ESPN about the games. These shows are so foreign to me. Two to five very loud guys sit around and argue. I'm amazed at how passionate they get about their faith in players, teams, and a silly little ball. My husband gets excited right along with these bobbleheads. As an outsider, I have to leave the house for sanity breaks, lest I join the cult unknowingly. Alas, I'm still an agnostic. Chris secretly wishes I were a seeker so he could convert me. I'm secretly waiting to get my living room back.

When I invited you to the blog, I didn't mean for you to speak sacrilege.

i will pray for you, gail. when God talks about keeping the sabbath holy...i think He had football season in mind. "don't work on the sabbbath...because all need to be home in order to watch the eagles kick butt!"

i am completely amazed at how much the announcers know about every player (who they played for in college, who their mom is, what their kindergarten teacher said to them once...)and every team. it does seem a bit crazy to me too. clark takes every misstep by his teams to be a personal offense against him. so funny.

Food Network, HGTV, TLC...now there's some true religion!
