Ash Wednesday

God, have mercy on me, a sinner. (Luke 18:13b)

Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish. (Jonah 3:9)

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:11)

If you, LORD, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you. (Psalm 130:3-4)
